NYFW 2018 STYLE TRENDS: RAINBOW BRIGHTS & ROMANTICALLY RUFFLED

As a designer & trend hunter, part of my job it to keep up on all of the latest & emerging fashion trends and to be able to translate the styling, colors, fabrics & details (a year ahead of time) into different categories to create new & exciting styles that people will love to wear & want to buy. Sounds simple, but it’s not always that easy…. and like much in life, timing is everything….
All in all, it’s so exciting & inspiring when the new collections come out and all of the top designers show there visions, hard work & creative craftsmanship to the world.
This season I’m loving……

“Work It Girl!” Your Work Out Style Guide….From the Splurge to the Steal…all the #Outfitinspo you need for your #Workout – The Look #35

One of my big goals that I set two years ago was to make exercising a regular (as in a 3-4 times weekly) practice….. and right now I’ve officially completed 2 years of following through on that commitment!

I can honestly say I have hit the gym at least 3 Times each week ( with the exception of sick & travel days), and it feels sooooo good to say that! I feel so much better mentally & physically now & regular exercise helps me feel more productive & motivated.

I have to say though that at first it was hard and sort of unfamiliar to keep this kind of routine, but it truly is a great feeling to follow through on your goals and to really show up for yourself no matter what! Once you have truly made that commitment to yourself, nothing can stop you!

I think that one of the reasons it was so good to accomplish this is because I really got so tired of letting myself down with all the various projects that I would start and then stop over the years… After a while it just gets really old to live like this and…. just as you wouldn’t want to disappoint your loved ones, then why would you want to disappoint yourself ? If there is something you really want to do, the first step is the commitment in your mind (make that promise to yourself), and the second step is to just do it by finding a workout you love & taking the small steps towards what you want to do and sticking with it, either daily or weekly,…. but really just being determined to show up for yourself without worrying about the end results….trust me, you’re worth it!

Wether you are hitting the gym all the time or just getting started, there are so many cute clothing & accessories options out there in all different price points. I find that wearing neutrals mixed with fun brights or pastels are what gets me in a good mood and prepared for that workout or yoga session! Staying motivated can be a challenge but having the right outfit  will keep you on point & focused…..

Lets do this….

How to Look Fab When It’s Freezing Cold-#WinterChic #Outfitinspo…. The Look #34

Ever since the New Year, it’s been absolutely freezing in NYC!!! With temperatures as low as 10 degrees and major snow on the ground , it doesn’t leave much inspiration for even leaving the house unless absolutely necessary, but still….the show (& life & work) must go on!

Currently as we are heading into the second week of the year, it’s “warming up” to the 30’s and 40’s which is much more manageable….but still….for someone who spent so many years in sunny California, it takes a bit of adjusting to get used to getting dressed on these super cold days.

Here is my un-official guide to looking stylish in the lower digits, all in styles from the splurge-worthy to the steal 🙂

THE COAT

I’ve never been a big fan of puffy coats and have always steered towards faux furs in fun, bright colors…..but when the temps really drop you’ll want to wrap yourself up in anything that resembles your warmest duvet comforter….here’s some chic alternatives in different price points:

1.Bordeaux down puffer/ SAM $575   2.Gold puffer/ Add Down   3. Pink cold night puffer/ Lovers & Friends $178    4.Red  X Revolve Belted Puffer Lovers & Friends $101  5.Lilac puffer bomber/ Lioness $100     6.Leopard Print Puffer/ ASOS $34 on sale!

THE SWEATER

You can never go wrong with a great sweater and this season there are so many cute ones to choose from….and many of them are also on sale….a win/ win!

1.Fuchsia boss woman top/ Lovers & Friends $168   2. Grey ruffle sweater/ English Factory $63 on sale!     3.Pink cold shoulder sweater/ Glamorous $60   4.Blue Tie Sleeve sweater / JOA $52    5.Lilac sweater/ ASOS $45 on sale!

THE BOOTS

I must admit that I have never purchased snow boots before, unless you count the ones I had when I was about 9 years old…..Anyway, it didn’t snow much last year and that was our first winter since moving to the east coast. But this year I do see the importance of having a great pair of boots to beat the elements plus you can still look chic doing it….there’s nothing like ruining your fave pair of boots and getting your feet wet in the slushy street corners of NYC! Not fun!

1.shearling trimmed booties/ Alexander McQueen $710 on sale!     2. tan wedge holiday booties/ Sorel $295    3. park city short wedge booties/ Sorel $300   4. tall snow boots/ Blondo $162 on sale!   5. ruffled boots/ J/Slides $67 on sale!     6. faux fur trim boots/ Madden Girl $52 on sale!

Happy Winter!

Zoe

Hello 2018! New Year, New You

Hello 2018!

It’s a new year and a new chance to begin again! I’ve never really been one to make too many resolutions but I do believe in big dreams & setting your goals & intentions on the regular….so what better time to do it than the beginning of a new year?

For me, 2017 was a year of transition, getting adjusted to city life after a big move from California, sparking excitement in my career again as a designer, blogging more consistently and finding balance between marriage, mom life, friends, family, creative pursuits, time for fun & self-care.

IMG_2025

When I first became a mom, I put that front and center and everything seem to fall to the way side including my career & my health. Eventually I just felt depleted & spent, like I had nothing more to give. It took me a long time to realize that this was not helping anyone, was too much of an unbalanced way of living, and took me even longer to get  my life back on track & it’s still a work in progress. While it does seem daunting at times to “try to have it all” & many women feel overwhelmed & pulled in a million directions most of the time, I do feel it’s important to focus your free time and energy on the things that make you feel most happy, alive & inspired, whatever that may be. Take time for yourself to dream, to plan, to love & to get inspired!

My goals for 2018:

Consistency-

Consistency & perseverance in all of my creative & professional endeavors….you cannot accomplish anything without putting in the work on a regular basis & believing in yourself! Sometimes there are so many things I want & need to do that I get so scattered but this year I vow to be more focused, more consistent & just go for it wholeheartedly…Feel the fear but do it anyway…go after your dreams & never give up! Keep going.

Health & Wellness-

While I have always been really into yoga, I never had a consistent practice…But, the past two years ago I joined a gym and started going on a regular basis 3-4 times a week, every week until it just became second nature. They say it takes 30 days to form a habit & I would say that seems about right. I had a hard time committing to the routine at first, as I tend to get bored of routines quickly, but now I’m so grateful that I did! Exercising has done so much for my mood, energy level and sense of well being & I plan to continue this into the new year and even take it up a notch!

Love & Happiness-

Because at the end of the day when all is said & done, this is all that matters…..the love that you have for your friends, family, partners, children & pets….this is what you will hold dear in your heart. With the frenzied pace of life it’s so easy to get caught up and lose sight of what matters most. But now more that ever we all need to show more love & unity & cherish each moment. We need to find as much happiness as we can get…

Happy New Year! Thank you for being on this journey with me…

Xo,

Zoe

From Wine to Rose….all the Holiday #Outfitinspo you need for the Fall/ Winter season…..The Look #32

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m getting excited for the holiday season & the chance to get a little dressed up for all the different holiday events. This season my absolute favorite colors have been Wine & Rose Pink and I just love how these colors look together and how they mix and match so effortlessly in different fabrics & textures.

I like to keep my pretty holiday looks a little bit casual and to mix them with some edgier accessories like a studded handbag or some sleek rock n roll style boots. It’s fun to play with different looks and to combine feminine fabrics such as lace, satin or velvet.

Wishing you a happy & healthy holiday season with lots of style, fun & happiness!
