Casual Chic- Black, White & Blue in Brooklyn

THE NEW T-SHIRT, JEANS & LACE TREND

black_wht-1

Sometimes it’s just fun to keep it simple & throw on a WHITE T-SHIRT & JEANS. This is one of my favorite and most comfortable outfits to wear that you can go back to time & time again. But of course you don’t want to wear just any old T-shirt or any old jeans, it’s got to be something that flatters & makes you feel good! I’m loving the “LACY CAMISOLE over a T-shirt” look, but sometimes it can get a bit tricky to pull off. This top is so simple and cute & I love the way the little CROPPED CAMI is built in for a seamless look. Also loving long NECKLACES & these simple medium wash JEANS that are so affordable.

I wore this ZARA top & jeans with METALLIC GOLD accessories, a FAUX FUR MOTO JACKET & suede BOOTS for a lunch date in Brooklyn. This is a fun & casual daytime look….just add some rocker-style accessories for an edgier look or dress it up with heels and a blazer for a more ladylike & sophisticated vibe.

What do you think about the LACE CAMI over a T-SHIRT look? Let me know in the comments below……

Hope you have a beautiful day!

XO,

Zoe

Happy New Year! The Best #Outfitposts of 2016

Happy New Year Babes! I hope you are all excited about 2017…..I know I’m excited for this new beginning and the chance to start over again….I don’t know if I really believe in New Year’s resolutions though….I feel like the beginning of the year is just a good time to asses everything you’ve accomplished and to plan ahead for the goals you want to achieve going forward.

One thing I’ve learned is that setting goals is fun, but actually working towards your goals takes determination & commitment. You really have to decide what you want to do & then just go ahead and really do it. Do the work. Take the daily steps that you need to do to move towards your goal. And believe in yourself! Because at the end of the day it really is about the daily journey and not the end result. It’s really all about the person that you become while you are on that journey….

Winter White, Lace & Ripped Denim

rock-paper-sequinsimg_6967

What are your favorite go-to looks?

Lately, I’ve been wearing different faux-fur jackets with ripped denim skinny jeans, a feminine blouse (hopefully with lots of ruffles) & booties. It’s becoming a sort of winter uniform for my casual days here in NYC. But now that winter is here it can be a challenge not to wear too much black clothing all the time. It’s fun to mix things up in the colder months with some pops of color or something unexpected like a white coat.

I wore this vintage Juicy Couture faux fur jacket with a Style Mafia lace trim off the shoulder top, J Brand ripped denim  & black suede booties & the handbag is from Betsey Johnson.

Stepping into December & twinning with my sweet doggie Louise! Have been getting excited about the holidays, some new projects I’ve been working on and all that’s to come in 2017.

XO,

Zoe

FAUX FUR IN THE CITY

rock-paper-sequins_faux-fur-in-the-city_1It’s gotten super chilly here in New York City!

The winter weather is finally here just in time for the holidays, so it seems like the perfect time to bundle up in cute faux fur coats, sweaters & boots. I’m wearing one of my favorite fall pieces, which is this Zara faux fur jacket that I got last year. I love the copper color and also that it’s super cozy and easy to wear.  I’ve been wearing vintage faux fur coats for as long as I can remember, but now there are tons of new versions that you can find in the stores that fit perfectly and are so cute & affordable too.

I love to add pops of color to my winter wardrobe to play against neutral denim & dresses.  I think bright colors always improve my mood especially when it’s cold or a bit dreary outside.

I wore this Vintage cheetah print top with my H & M zipper jeans, Zara faux fur jacket & added my new favorite wine colored booties from Lulu’s. The handbag is from Betsey Johnson & sunglasses are Prada.

It’s a fun & cozy look to pair cute boots with denim and a great coat for stomping around the city. I’m also so happy to be back in New York City ! I hope you have a great holiday….

Zoe

Vintage Sweatshirt & Denim in Brooklyn

rockpapersequins_def_leppard_look6696

I always seem to sway between romantic & rock n’ roll inspired looks, sometimes mixing the two depending on my mood. But There’s something about waking up in New York City that makes you want to dress up a little bit tougher and today I was feeling in that kinda mood. I stepped out in this vintage outfit for coffee and a casual day walking around Brooklyn….

I wore this vintage Def Leppard sweatshirt layered over a Splendid tee with my Zara splattered skinny jeans & Nasty Gal faux fur jacket & added black suede Sam Edelman boots, my hot pink suede Monserat de Luca fringe bag and Prada sunnies.

I can never seem to get enough of denim, boots & faux fur jackets this fall season and I like how these can be either dressed up or down depending on your mood or occasion.

I hope you had a great weekend!

Zoe

Dark Florals & Sunny Days

dark_florals_rockpapersequins_img_6647

Happy November!

This is that crazy time of year where every day the weather seems completely different and you never know what to wear until that morning when you see how the weather actually is on that day and not what your weather app was predicting the night before…

I had actually planned on wearing my cozy faux fur coats this past weekend but we had an unexpected heat wave which was actually so nice and reminded me of California days…
I’ve been loving Dark Floral Prints paired with denim, boots and leather this season….Also still cannot get enough of off the shoulder tops and flared sleeves for fall, so it was fun to wear this new top I found from Nasty Gal. It’s so pretty and I love how the print looks with jeans & gold accessories. It would also look great with a skirt and over the knee boots.

I wore this ruffly Nasty Gal top with my ripped J Brand jeans, black Dolce Vita boots, favorite Marisa Mason & Calleen Cordero jewelry that’s always on repeat & Prada sunglasses.

It was a beautiful & sunny day & I’m really trying to enjoy all of these last days of good weather before the cold sets in here in NYC….

CHEETAH DRESS & FAUX FUR JACKET IN BROOKLYN

img_6558new

Fall is here! It’s been such a long time since I’ve been on the East Coast during the fall season & I’m so excited about all the pretty leaves changing color & the cooler temperatures here in NYC. I’ve also really been loving the latest new wave/ rock n’ roll/ 80’s MTV inspired collections from Marc Jacobs & Isabel Marant, so when I  found this dress on one of my recent vintage shopping adventures I was really excited because it reminded me of these emerging trends. I’ve always been a leopard & cheetah print kinda girl, but I really liked how this dress has bright pops of color in blue and purple to contrast with black.

Even though it’s fall I still like a bit of color to brighten things up. I like to style my unique vintage and thrift shop finds with whatever I’m currently wearing that’s new or on repeat.

I wore this vintage dress with my favorite faux fur jacket. I found this cozy jacket last year from Nasty Gal, but you can find similar ones here & here. I added my new black Sam Edelman suede boots, favorite pink suede Monserat de Luca fringe bag, Prada sunglasses, Topshop velvet choker & Calleen Cordero leather bracelets.

I always love wearing simple boots with dresses and also like the feeling of throwing on a furry & cozy jacket to give the outfit a bit of texture and edge. This is a fun & playful look that will take you from day into night….

Rose Bouquet Print Dress & Moto Jacket

img_6600

I’ve been loving wine, berry & pink tones this season. They are the perfect colors to wear now to brighten up your wardrobe while still feeling like you are dressing for fall. I was so excited to find this printed chiffon dress in exactly the color I was looking for and also love the pretty floral print, ruffles & overall retro vibe. It’s a great dress for layering and would also look good worn over jeans or high boots.

I wore this Band Of Gypsies long sleeve dress with my Zara moto jacket & added my new black Sam Edelman suede boots, pink suede Monserat de Luca fringe bag, Prada sunglasses & a Topshop velvet choker.

I love wearing boots with dresses and these have a great block heel that is really comfortable for stomping around the city and would also look great with either jeans or dresses. I like how the jacket and boots add a bit of toughness to an otherwise feminine look.

Berry Chiffon Dress and Vintage Suede Boots for Fall

I was excited to find this purple wine-berry colored chiffon dress at Buffalo Exchange just as I was working on the “Bohemian Deluxe” trend for the blog. It just jumped out at me among all the dresses on the rack because of the gorgeous color, long sleeves & ruffle details that perfectly match the Bohemian Deluxe meets Jimi Hendrix inspired trend for FW16. It was even more of a score to find that it was just my size! Gotta love the thrill of the hunt that is “vintage/ consignment” shopping……I love the dress because it’s a bit feminine and girly but not too too girly when paired with my vintage Marc Jacobs boots & favorite rock n roll bohemian Marisa Mason jewelry. I always like the mix of something feminine with something a little bit edgier & cool and I love styling and reworking my favorite things already in my closet and giving them an update with something new (or vintage)…. Just because fashion trends keeps on changing doesn’t mean you have to let go of all your old favorites. Sometimes you just need a few new pieces to pair with your existing favorites to get excited about a new look….
