3 WAYS TO STYLE A GRAPHIC TEE THIS SUMMER

HI GUYS ! Wow….it’s been a while since my last post & time just seems to keep flying by!

Just recently I’ve been so busy because I launched the new Rock Paper Sequins T-Shirt Line (Yay!!) and the first few styles are now available on The Rock Paper Sequins Online Boutique. It’s been so much fun to work on a new collection & I really like the idea of creating something simple, chic, fun & accessible. So….on that note, I’ve really been getting more into wearing graphic tees on a regular basis & incorporating them into my everyday wardrobe.

Here are 3 Chic ways to style a Graphic Tee this season:

Casual Friday
– You’ve been dressing up all week but now Friday’s finally here….throw on a cute Graphic Tee and your most sleek and polished jeans & top with a blazer & an abundance of layered jewelry for a pulled together day look that easily transitions into dinner & drinks…..

Electric Lady Tee by Rock Paper Sequins / Blazer by Joie / Denim by Paige/ Heels by Sam Edelman / Handbag by Alexander Wang

Weekend Workout
– Weekends are for unwinding & also for working out! Squeeze in your workout or yoga class with on-the-go style….start with a cute Graphic Tee + a sleek pair of Workout Leggings, your sneakers, a water bottle & you’re good to go……

Love Love Love Tee by Rock Paper Sequins / Cheetah Print Workout Leggings by Onzie / Star Print Workout Leggings by Terez /  Running Shoes by Nike / Water Bottle by Ban.do / Gym Bag by Lululemon

Sunday Brunch-
Brunch is my favorite & such relaxing meal…. wether you are meeting up with the girls or spending quality time with family, dress up your chic Graphic Tee with a cool denim skirt & some espadrilles for an effortless look that’s sexy & fun but not trying to hard…..

YOUR AFFORDABLE STYLE GUIDE FOR THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMER #endlesssummer #styleguide

Hi again! So…..this summer has been going so fast & I’ve been sooooo busy between working, parenting & our hectic city lifestyle in general that I’ve been a bit MIA on the blog lately.  But even though its almost the end of August, I’m still so excited about styling my summer looks & looking for great new sale items because it feels like summer’s just not over yet!

There’s still 2 more weeks till Labor Day weekend… so lets make the most of it! My family and I are finally getting some time to relax & escape the city and we are so excited to get in some more beach days & pool time & fun in the sun. Lately I’ve been searching for some cute styles that can take you through a long fun day at the beach or pool & then out to dinner and drinks….

This is a great time of year to look for the styles you may have been coveting all season that could currently be on sale or adding great new items you can wear now & also in the begging of the next summer season. I always am looking for a great bargain & love finding things to add to my wardrobe this time of year….because lets face it, fall is just not as fun!

This summer I’ve been really into dresses and bright colors. I like to mix and elegant look with something more edgy and have also been getting back into graphic t-shirts again. For summer I tend to wear more simple styles but also to have fun with my outfit choices. Fashion should always be fun and make you feel good about yourself!

Here are some of my favorite looks for this end of the summer season:

SPRING 2018: HOW TO ADD NEW COLOR TO YOUR WARDROBE THIS SPRING

Wow! I can’t believe it’s already May! I’ve been a bit missing in action on the site lately with so many changes & so much going in my life lately….but…….I’m very excited to get back into the spring season & to be writing again here on Rock Paper Sequins. It’s been a looooong & cold winter here on the East coast & it’s finally starting toward up & feels like spring is finally in the air.

It’s so fun to be in the city this time of year, everyone is so excited to be outdoors and there’s such an amazing collective energy and optimism on the streets and in the parks and the cafes too, it’s contagious!

Anyway, I’ve been anticipating this season for a while and excited to start wearing all the new spring threads. One thing I’m really excited about is adding more color into my wardrobe after many months of wearing darker colors.

What are your favorite colors to wear this spring?

I’m currently so excited about: PINK, YELLOW & LILAC

pretty in pink

Pink is the color of optimism & love. It can be delicate & sweet and feminine & romantic, but it also represents universal love and the most powerful form of love which is self love….

Hello 2018! New Year, New You

Hello 2018!

It’s a new year and a new chance to begin again! I’ve never really been one to make too many resolutions but I do believe in big dreams & setting your goals & intentions on the regular….so what better time to do it than the beginning of a new year?

For me, 2017 was a year of transition, getting adjusted to city life after a big move from California, sparking excitement in my career again as a designer, blogging more consistently and finding balance between marriage, mom life, friends, family, creative pursuits, time for fun & self-care.

IMG_2025

When I first became a mom, I put that front and center and everything seem to fall to the way side including my career & my health. Eventually I just felt depleted & spent, like I had nothing more to give. It took me a long time to realize that this was not helping anyone, was too much of an unbalanced way of living, and took me even longer to get  my life back on track & it’s still a work in progress. While it does seem daunting at times to “try to have it all” & many women feel overwhelmed & pulled in a million directions most of the time, I do feel it’s important to focus your free time and energy on the things that make you feel most happy, alive & inspired, whatever that may be. Take time for yourself to dream, to plan, to love & to get inspired!

My goals for 2018:

Consistency-

Consistency & perseverance in all of my creative & professional endeavors….you cannot accomplish anything without putting in the work on a regular basis & believing in yourself! Sometimes there are so many things I want & need to do that I get so scattered but this year I vow to be more focused, more consistent & just go for it wholeheartedly…Feel the fear but do it anyway…go after your dreams & never give up! Keep going.

Health & Wellness-

While I have always been really into yoga, I never had a consistent practice…But, the past two years ago I joined a gym and started going on a regular basis 3-4 times a week, every week until it just became second nature. They say it takes 30 days to form a habit & I would say that seems about right. I had a hard time committing to the routine at first, as I tend to get bored of routines quickly, but now I’m so grateful that I did! Exercising has done so much for my mood, energy level and sense of well being & I plan to continue this into the new year and even take it up a notch!

Love & Happiness-

Because at the end of the day when all is said & done, this is all that matters…..the love that you have for your friends, family, partners, children & pets….this is what you will hold dear in your heart. With the frenzied pace of life it’s so easy to get caught up and lose sight of what matters most. But now more that ever we all need to show more love & unity & cherish each moment. We need to find as much happiness as we can get…

Happy New Year! Thank you for being on this journey with me…

Xo,

Zoe

I can’t believe that August is already here! Well, even though summer’s already more than half way over, there’s still so much time left for fun days at the beach or pool & those hot summer nights! Now is the time to get the most wear out of your summer wardrobe or to add some great new items. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to look stylish & with so many summer sales going on, it’s exciting!

But what about those long weekend days when you always on the go or vacation time where you need your outfits to carry you from morning till night? I’ve put together my top 5 summer essentials that will take you through a long day of fun…from morning brunch to an afternoon on the beach & then a night out on the town.

Here are my 5 favorite summer essentials

1.) THE PRETTY SUNDRESS

Pretty floral print sundresses are great for summer as they will keep you cool in the hot weather and can also be dressed up or down depending on where you are going. Pair with flat sandals or flip flops by day or dress up with heels at night. Create an edgy or ultra-feminine look with the same dress by switching out your accessories.

This dress was something I wore recently on a hot & humid day in NYC and I really loved the soft florals & stripe details. (SHOP this post:  DRESS- SIMILAR HERE & HERE )

Pink Floral Dress: This dress below is really affordable & I love the idea of dressing this up with a strappy sandal for night or dressing down with white sneaker or flat lace-up sandals by day.

Also loving this dress too! shop this style HERE

2. THE WHITE TOP

Lacey off the shoulder tops have really become a universal favorite because they are so comfortable, flattering & on trend. A pretty white top will keep you cool & always looks great paired with denim shorts or a skirt for daytime or you can dress it up with skinny jeans and heels for night. This also can be a great layering look over your swimsuit for a more covered up look at the beach or pool.

White Eyelet Off The Shoulder Top: Nothing beats a pretty white top for a fun & feminine look. This top looks great paired with denim shorts or can be dressed up for night with gold accessories.

here is another favorite! And it’s currently on sale HERE

3. THE DENIM CUT-OFF SHORTS

Denim Shorts: this is one of my favorite denim brands right now & this is just such a cute & classic style that you can wear on repeat all summer long

4. THE ONE PIECE BATHING SUIT

Nude Ruffle One Piece: this is my favorite one piece bathing suit because you can just throw shorts, jeans or a skirt over it and head straight out to dinner after a day at the beach. It has such gorgeous and flattering styling with the one shoulder ruffle detail. Plus it’s Made in USA & currently on sale !

5. THE COOL SUNNIES

Cat Eye Sunglasses: I always seem to wear the same favorite pair of go-to clasic black sunnies, but sometimes it’s fun to change it up a bit, especially in summer. Why not try some fun mirrored lenses in a fun color or a cat eye shape? These are so fun & pretty & at a great price too.

Throwback Style Inspiration…..Sixties Style Icon-Jean Shrimpton

Who is on your fashion radar this spring? Some people always have their favorite style icons & others get inspired by the trends & have new icons each season….and as the sunshine begins to replace the snow & the winter season goes, it’s time to get inspired for Spring Summer 2017! Usually I’m always inspired by those who are a little offbeat & bold, but right now I’m so loving all the retro floral prints & pretty dresses that were on the SS17 runways, as well as all the feminine chiffons, ruffles upon ruffles, crisp cotton tops & of course the color PINK. This brings to mind the retro-modern days of the swinging sixties where women got into music, art & the “mod pop fashion scene” of London.

This season, I’m inspired by Jean Shrimpton in the 1960’s.

Jean Shrimpton is an English model and actress. She was considered “The Face of the 60’s” & was one of the first supermodels! She had an amazing, memorable & truly timeless style that still resonates today….I love her feminine yet modern look.

The Look- Retro. Modern. Feminine

get inspired…

Paris Fashion Week-FW 2017 Style Trend: “The Madness of Glamour”

It’s all about GLAMOUR for the Fall 17 season from Paris Fashion Week. “When the going gets tough, the tough dress up” and there was a feeling of dressing up against all odds, against all the madness of the world….

I especially loved the collections of Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Saint Laurent & Isabel Marant. There were lovely faux fur coats in sweet pastels and fall brights. Dresses were embellished with metallics and lace. The overall feeling was eclectic, RETRO-kitch and psychedelic. I’m loving the pretty dresses, tailored coats, delicate ruffle trims, metallics & retro embellishments.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE LOOKS FROM PARIS Fashion Week for Fall Winter 2017.

The latest look is “THE MADNESS OF GLAMOUR”

Get inspired by Spring’s Fab Floral Prints….The Inspiration: “Flower Girl”

flower-girl

Currently craving…. Bright Colors & Bold Floral Prints for Spring/ Summer ’17.

For the Spring/ Summer season, there were some great designer collections with retro-inspired & playful flower print dresses, tops & jackets that totally remind me of 60’s & 70’s “Flower Power” dresses. I’ve always loved hunting through vintage shops for those one of a kind dresses in prints so similar to those that went down the runways of Michael Kors, Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga & Chloe this season.

I can’t wait for spring to get here & to start embracing some bright colors, retro accessories & fun prints again!

Here are some of my favorite “Flower Girl” inspired items for SS17:
