The Look #12: “Studs n’ Roses”

The romantic look continues for fall 2016, this time adding an edge with washed out & ripped denim, metallic rock studs, leather jackets & lace tops. The classic black Moto jacket & simple denim have been adorned with bold rose print embroidery & silver studs….

For a play on contrasts, combine a ruffled lace blouse with a studded jacket and ripped jeans, or a flowing rose print with a rock n roll jacket. Combining lace with studs takes a sweet feminine look over the edge and into the dark side….

Throwback Style Inspiration……….. The Icon: Jimi Hendrix- “Wild Thing”

One of my favorite style icons from the late 60’s is the ultimate rock star Jimi Hendrix. A true free spirit, he crafted & styled his own unique look filled with billowy shirts, eclectic prints & velvet pants. His outfits exploded with colors & patterns that expressed timeless style and gave us a window into his true essence. His look was part psychedelic, part luxury & part thrift shop style & adding with his electric guitar…he was the ultimate rock star. His music, stage performances and costumes were truly….an Experience.

I love how he mixed rich jewel tone colors like purple with pink & turquoise, copper with brown & gold as well as cool fabric combinations of velvet with silk & satin with brocade. His outfits were stunning, original & unique….

But there’s another side to this fall season that’s just simply romantic. If you are like me and still holding on to that summer mood, you might want to make that transition to an autumn look filled with feminine details, ruffled blouses, lace fabrics and long flowing dresses……

The Look # 9- Grunge Meets Glam

The fall season is upon us & I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures. I’m loving a lot of the fall 2016 fashion trends, but I’m especially excited about the 90’s trend that’s been emerging lately. One of my favorite time periods in fashion history is the early 90’s when Anna Sui had her first runway show, Marc Jacobs creating his “Grunge” collection for Perry Ellis and a young Kate Moss burst onto the scene.

I loved Kate Moss’s effortless personal style & feminine but rock and roll spirit.  I also loved the rich colors, fabrics, prints & jewelry of the early 90’s that are just as inspirational today as they were back then.

I’m so looking forward to wearing animal prints, velvet, plaid & washed out denim this fall. Also love the look of dreamy flowing chiffon print dresses & tops with motorcycle boots.
