The Look You Need For The Holidays- “ROCK N ROLL SEQUINS” #Holidaystyle

Happy November! It’s hard to believe that 2018 is winding down & there are only 6 weeks left of this year! I’m getting excited for the holidays & the chance to get a little dressed up for different events. This season I’ve been really feeling a Disco meets Rock N Roll vibe with lots of “glam & glitter” and my favorite….sequins! I thought it would be fun to put together an assortment of disco inspired outfits for the party season in different price categories….no matter what your budget is there’s always something cute to find to get dressed up in.

I generally like to keep my holiday looks on the casual side and to mix them with some edgier accessories like a studded handbag or some sleek rock n roll style boots. But it’s always fun to play with different looks especially when you have a fun party (or 2) to attend!

Wishing you a happy & healthy holiday season with lots of style, fun & glamour!

Here are some of my favorite looks for the fall/winter holiday season…..

THE LOOK  #10- Pretty Edgy-Rockin’ Romance

Fall always seems like a good time to get a little tougher with what you are wearing…..think boots, leather jackets & heavy metal details on your accessories. But there’s another side to this fall season that’s just simply romantic. If you are like me and still holding on to that summer mood, you might want to make that transition to an autumn look filled with feminine details, ruffled blouses, lace fabrics and long flowing dresses……

pretty-edgy-pg-1

1.LEATHER JACKET/  LPA      2. DRESS/ REBECCA MINKOFF    3.HANDBAG/ YSL  4.BOOTS/ TOPSHOP  5.HANDBAG/  MULBERRY  6. JEANS/  RAG & BONE (SIMILAR HERE)                         7.BALLET FLATS/ ZARA       8.BLOUSE/  ENDLESS ROSE

These are the perfect looks to mix with some tougher pieces you probably already have in your closet. Go pretty and edgy by mixing a ruffled blouse with a motorcyle jacket, ripped jeans and boots. Or pair a long flowing dress with a studded jacket. Think leather and lace……and spiked metal with pink…….

I love this romantic but rock n roll feeling for creating an effortless personal style for the fall season.

I’m so looking forward to wearing silver studs, motorcycle jackets & washed out denim this fall. Also loving the look of dreamy flowing chiffon print dresses & tops with motorcycle boots.

I hope you like this outfit inspiration for a Romantic Rock n Roll inspired look for the Fall season…………..

ALL THE INSPIRATION YOU NEED FOR YOUR 90’S STYLE WARDROBE- THE INSPIRATION #6-“Like Teen Spirit”

So….that 90’s feeling has been in the air lately….you see in on television, in music and in fashion. From 90’s Icon Winona Ryder starring in the hit sci-fi  Netflix show “Stranger Things”….

And continuing with some of the current street style pics from NY Fashion Week, I think it’s safe to say….the 90’s are back!

Street style shots from NY Fashion Week 2016

Some people hated the style of the 90’s and some people loved it, but from Grunge to Glam to Baby doll Rock n Roll, there’s a fun & modern way to bring back the style of the & keep it looking cool & fresh……

There’s nothing like the grey sky and cool air of fall to get you in the mood for something a little bit darker, tougher & stronger…..& to channel the vibes from the Pacific Northwest, where some of the most well known grunge bands originated.

I also love the whole 90’s baby doll rock n’ roll look of Courtney Love from Hole & the way she mixed a little dress with fishnets, dark lipstick, smudged eyeliner and a cool guitar.

Here’s some images to get inspired for the new look: Modern 90’s

The Icon #4 Florence Welch- Boho Rock Summer Nights

One of my current new favorite style icons is Florence Welch from Florence & the Machine. Not only is she striking & unusual, but she seems to be a true free spirit and a modern day goddess, playing by her own rules in both her music and personal style. She is not only beautiful, but also incredibly talented & inspiring. Her voice is pure & unaltered emotion. Her look is a mix of different style elements & has a sort of dreamy & flowing Boho vibe that’s offset by some hard edged pieces.

Follow her style for a bohemian rocker look for your summer nights out….happy summer!

THE ICON #1-Debbie Harry: Goddess of Punk

Who was the original icon of Punk? I’m not sure there really was one, since the genre was pretty much male dominated….but as far as a lady-like Punk icon, for me it would have to be Debbie Harry, AKA Blondie. She just had the best look! And she was always so cool, & so glamorous….how Marilyn Monroe might have looked if she had run off & joined a punk band.

When I think about Debbie Harry, I think about the old New York, the crazy, fun, gritty New York that I grew up in. It’s the mixing of grit & glamour & raw rebelliousness that make her so striking even to this day.

Blondie started up in the early 70’s, during a time when Punk in New York was not yet developed and was not yet commercialized. The Punk look at that time was all about creating personal style from scratch and your own real self-expression.

Debbie wore thrift shop clothes in a unique way, creating an edgy punk look mixed with her feminine style. Her two-tone platinum & black hair, bright lipstick & black eyeliner have become a classic Rock n Roll look that still feels modern even today. She is the original goddess of Punk Rock.
