Winter White, Lace & Ripped Denim

What are your favorite go-to looks?

Lately, I’ve been wearing different faux-fur jackets with ripped denim skinny jeans, a feminine blouse (hopefully with lots of ruffles) & booties. It’s becoming a sort of winter uniform for my casual days here in NYC. But now that winter is here it can be a challenge not to wear too much black clothing all the time. It’s fun to mix things up in the colder months with some pops of color or something unexpected like a white coat.

I wore this vintage Juicy Couture faux fur jacket with a Style Mafia lace trim off the shoulder top, J Brand ripped denim & black suede booties & the handbag is from Betsey Johnson.

Stepping into December & twinning with my sweet doggie Louise! Have been getting excited about the holidays, some new projects I’ve been working on and all that’s to come in 2017.

The romantic look continues for fall 2016, this time adding an edge with washed out & ripped denim, metallic rock studs, leather jackets & lace tops. The classic black Moto jacket & simple denim have been adorned with bold rose print embroidery & silver studs….

For a play on contrasts, combine a ruffled lace blouse with a studded jacket and ripped jeans, or a flowing rose print with a rock n roll jacket. Combining lace with studs takes a sweet feminine look over the edge and into the dark side….

Throwback Style Inspiration……….. The Icon: Jimi Hendrix- “Wild Thing”

One of my favorite style icons from the late 60’s is the ultimate rock star Jimi Hendrix. A true free spirit, he crafted & styled his own unique look filled with billowy shirts, eclectic prints & velvet pants. His outfits exploded with colors & patterns that expressed timeless style and gave us a window into his true essence. His look was part psychedelic, part luxury & part thrift shop style & adding with his electric guitar…he was the ultimate rock star. His music, stage performances and costumes were truly….an Experience.

I love how he mixed rich jewel tone colors like purple with pink & turquoise, copper with brown & gold as well as cool fabric combinations of velvet with silk & satin with brocade. His outfits were stunning, original & unique….
